DEG Nordic welcomes Scanbox Entertainment to its growing membership

DEGI: The Digital Entertainment Group International’s Nordic board (DEG Nordic) today announced that Scanbox Entertainment has joined its membership, strengthening the community of distributors and partners championing Home Entertainment across the four Nordic markets – Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland.

Headquartered in Denmark, Scanbox Entertainment is a leading independent film company releasing titles across theatrical and Home Entertainment and their addition to the board brings fresh perspective and on-the-ground expertise to DEGN’s collaborative work to drive transactional growth and further understand market trends and the behaviours driving it. Scanbox Entertainment join NBCUniversal, Nordisk Film, Paramount Pictures, SF Studios, Sony Pictures Entertainment, The Walt Disney Company and Warner Bros. Discovery as members of the board.

Torben Thorup Jørgensen, CCO at Scanbox Entertainment, said: “Scanbox Entertainment is delighted to join DEGN, as it aligns with our current position and the goals we are working to achieve, both as an independent distributor and as a production company. As digital film consumption and distribution continue to evolve, it is more relevant than ever for the industry to collaborate. Access to DEGN’s data and knowledge, as well as the opportunity to learn from industry partners, is considered essential in order to better withstand the common challenges we face. We also believe that DEGN membership will help strengthen partnerships with local streaming services and streamline communication and marketing efforts towards end users.”

Jesper Dahlgaard, Nordic Director of Digital Sales, Nordisk Film and Chair DEGN, said: “The addition of Scanbox Entertainment to our board is immensely significant for DEGN. As a strong and established local player, they bring invaluable market understanding and a fresh perspective that will be crucial in advancing our shared mission to grow Home Entertainment across the Nordic region. We extend them a very warm welcome.”

Liz Bales, Chief Executive at DEGI, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Scanbox Entertainment to the DEGN community. Growing the board broadens the knowledge base our members can draw on, and local market expertise is paramount to accelerating transactional engagement across the Nordics. Scanbox Entertainment’s blend of commercial insight, distribution experience and an increasing focus on local production will be a valuable asset to our shared agenda.”

DEGN’s recent and upcoming activity includes the “Nordic Yearly Market Overview” report (detailing a comprehensive overview of the Home Entertainment landscape, published this coming week) the “Mega Movie Week” promotions (running four times a year, with the latest campaign starting on 10th of October) and the publication of the “Weekly Hitlist” Top 10 charts, all designed to positively influence trajectory through audience growth and engagement. Looking to 2026, DEGN will deliver an ambitious programme including the return of the Tradeshow in Stockholm, which regularly draws in over 100 guests to frame the opportunities and potential of the category plus the launch of the GfK sales tool-tracker, the first comprehensive multi-market data source for the region, alongside a focus on deepening partnerships with key retailers.
