30th September 2025: Today, DEGI: The Digital Entertainment Group International and The Digital Entertainment Group Nordic (DEGN) announce the release of the second edition of the Nordic Market Overview report. Building on the insights of its first edition in 2024, the 2025 report provides an in-depth look at the Nordic market, including data from the first half of 2025 and a forward-looking outlook into 2026. It highlights evolving consumer behaviours, emerging market trends, and opportunities for sustainable growth across the region.
The 2025 Nordic Market Overview delivers an expanded perspective on the regional digital landscape, providing stakeholders with crucial insights into the current state of the market. The report includes a detailed analysis of territory sales performance across EST and VOD, highlighting strong performances in both value and volume, with the trend of audiences shifting towards EST continuing to gain momentum. A smaller new release slate in 2024 drove growth in catalogue titles across multiple genres, with local content titles playing a crucial role in the Home Entertainment market, with at least two local titles ranked among the Top 10 releases in each region over the year.
The report also highlights evolving consumer behaviour across the region. Local Box Office returned to growth in Q1 2025, setting up strong performances within the Home Entertainment window. Audiences’ desire to rewatch titles at home, with growing preference for flexible digital formats, has also been shown. Regular EST and VOD users increased in all territories, particularly in Norway and Finland, with consumer data indicating a gradual shift toward EST.
Finally, the report documents the positive and established growth initiatives created by DEGN to promote the transactional market, including the annual Nordic Digital Entertainment Tradeshow, Mega Movie Week and the Nordic Hitlist, all devised to understand the market and stimulate sustained growth.
Jesper Dahlgaard, Chair, DEGN said: “With this 2025 edition, our second report, DEGN provides stakeholders across the Nordics with richer, locally-focused insights than ever before.
