Emerging talent will connect with experienced leaders from across screen entertainment
London, 2 October 2026: Applications are now open for the 2027 BASE, DEGI & Industry Trust Mentorship Scheme, connecting emerging talent with experienced professionals from across screen entertainment.
Now entering its third year, the scheme builds on a successful 2025 pilot and its expansion across the member community in 2026. Feedback from the 2026 cohort highlight the scope of professional development, with benefits including greater confidence, broader perspectives, stronger networks and support with career progression. Mentees particularly valued the fresh perspective of someone outside their own organisation, alongside support in building confidence, understanding the wider industry and developing their networks.
The UK has extraordinary creative strength. Realising the opportunities ahead will depend in part on people who can share knowledge, build relationships across the sector and see how different parts of the screen entertainment ecosystem work together. The mentorship scheme gives emerging professionals the chance to develop those connections and learn from people with experience beyond their own organisations.
Running from January to July 2027, the programme will bring carefully matched mentors and mentees together for a minimum of six sessions, held in-person and online. Mentees will have dedicated space to explore their ambitions, develop their skills and gain new perspectives. The programme is supported by an established Advisory Group, who support the matching process, considering applicants’ experience, skills and goals, and whose expertise helps shape the application, selection and matching process. BASE, DEGI and Industry Trust thank Dominic Warman of 3Search Executive, Laure Gaultier of UNIC and Janet Ogundele of the Human Enterprise for their guidance and commitment to the programme.
Employees of BASE, DEGI and Industry Trust member organisations can apply directly or be nominated by their employer. Applications are encouraged from people of all backgrounds and across the breadth of the member community.
The upcoming BASE Awards will celebrate some of the industry’s brightest emerging talent through the Rising Star Award. Everyone shortlisted in that category will also be put forward for the mentorship scheme, giving their achievements a chance to open doors beyond the Awards night.
Liz Bales, Chief Executive of BASE and DEGI, said: “Growth across screen entertainment will come from connection – between people, organisations and different parts of the industry. We need to develop the talent and relationships that will help our sector make the most of every opportunity across the life of a film or television title. Mentoring creates space for emerging professionals to learn from experienced leaders, ask questions and bring fresh perspectives of their own. Investing in emerging talent is an investment in the future strength of our industry.”
Applications close on Friday 13 November 2026.
