DEGI Roadshow in Munich highlights sustained growth of transactional home entertainment in Germany and beyond as key to unlocking greater value across the content lifecycle for consumers and industry alike

21st October 2026: The DEGI Roadshow 2026 yesterday marked its final event of the year in Munich, officially bringing DEGI’s biggest and most ambitious Roadshow programme yet to a close.

Building on the momentum and key themes from Roadshows held across five European markets earlier in 2026, the event on 20th October was a welcome return of the series to Munich. Delivered in partnership with AllScreens and bringing together leaders from across the local and international entertainment, technology, culture and research industries, the event was themed around the future of audience value and welcomed more than 70 attendees to LEONINE Studios for a day of insight, collaboration and connection.

Opening the day was a keynote fireside chat on focusing on value creation across the content lifecycle with Justin Che, President at Universal Pictures Home Entertainment and Liz Bales, Chief Executive at DEGI. Delving into Justin’s experience spanning content distribution, television channels, direct-to-consumer, and home entertainment in both regional and global roles, their discussion explored key elements that combine to create enduring value across the global entertainment industry, from leadership, collaboration and creativity to audience engagement and international insight.

Justin Che, President at Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, said, “At Universal, we embrace and invest in a strong global transactional business as an important part of our overall film distribution strategy, delivering meaningful value for consumers while supporting our continued investment in an exciting future slate. A test and learn mindset is key to sustaining transactional growth and developing long-term value, and the productive, collaborative spirit of the AllScreens and DEGI Roadshow underscores the importance of innovation and industry partnerships in bolstering market opportunities for transactional entertainment in Germany and beyond.”

EIT Culture & Creativity, who joined the DEGI Roadshow as a new sponsor and strategic partner earlier in 2026, led a thoughtful panel discussion alongside ORF, New Renaissance Ventures, and Einbliq.io on who backs the next generation of media technology, exploring how established industry organisations can harness technologies and unlock the associated funding that will make transactional entertainment easier to find and use – and thereby more valuable to audiences.

Further highlights from the Roadshow included an insightful panel on optimising transactional entertainment with Prime Video, Warner Bros. Discovery and Constantin Film Distribution, a detailed update from YouGov Shopper Intelligence on their latest consumer research showcasing the unique positioning and further growth potential of transactional in Germany, and a keynote address from Peter Schauerte, Managing Director at AllScreens, on the state of the German market, the changes we face in doing business and ways to deal with these changes.

Peter Schauerte, Managing Director at AllScreens, said: “Unsettled times are when habits change, and those who act early do better than those who wait. Audiences keep spending on stories they feel are worth it, but when an AI recommends three titles instead of 30, visibility decides. Clear windows, strong data and a shared industry voice will shape how our content is found, financed and valued. Let’s own it.”

Liz Bales, Chief Executive at DEGI, added: “Munich marks a fitting end to our boldest and most successful Roadshow series to date, emphasising the importance of converting the power of transactional entertainment into greater consumer engagement, stronger commercial propositions, and sustained growth. Germany remains a significant market for home entertainment, and it’s clear there is real appetite to capitalise on momentum to drive transactional and meet evolving consumer demand as the returning strength of the box office and emergence of premium early releasing provide exciting opportunities to unlock greater value across the content lifecycle.”

The Munich Roadshow was made possible thanks to our partner AllScreens, insightful speakers, gracious hosts LEONINE Studios, and generous sponsors The British Board for Film Classification (BBFC), EIT Culture & Creativity, and Silk Factory.

The DEGI Roadshow will return with another robust agenda in 2027, building on the momentum generated throughout 2026 to continue its mission to connect, inform and inspire the international entertainment community.
