17th June 2026: Today, The Digital Entertainment Group Nordic (DEGN) and DEGI: The Digital Entertainment Group International publish the annual Nordic Market Overview report for 2026. Now in its third edition, the report provides a comprehensive look at market trends, audience behaviours, and opportunities for collaboration and growth within the Nordic Transactional Home Entertainment landscape.

Combining fresh regional data and analysis with insight into the distinctions of each individual territory, the latest report delivers a breakdown of consumer behaviour and territory sales performance across EST and VOD. It details how strong box office conversion helped to stabilise the market following a downturn in 2024, and predicts the powerful upcoming slate will deliver modest but steady growth for the remainder of 2026 and into 2027. The report also highlights a particularly positive performance for EST, with volume remaining stable and value up 4% in 2025, putting regional consumer spend on track to surpass VOD within the next few years.

The report also examines the top titles of the year across the region, and while Hollywood dominated the 2025 New Release charts, local content continued to play a key role in engaging audiences, with homegrown hits securing multiple year-end top 10 spots in both Denmark and Finland. Consumer engagement with Catalogue also remained key, cementing it as an increasingly important revenue driver that accounts for nearly half of all consumer spend across each of the four territories.

The Nordic Market Overview additionally provides a deep dive into the initiatives driven by DEGN to stimulate sustainable growth in the Nordic Transactional market. These include the annual DEGI Roadshow, which returned to Stockholm in April 2026 for its fourth edition; the Nordic Hitlist, compiling the top 10 digital films every week across each Nordic market; and Mega Movie Week, of which awareness grew significantly in three of the four markets after it was delivered an unprecedented four times in the 12 months through to January 2026, driving sales of an additional 111,000 units and 180,000 EUR in revenue across EST and VOD.

Jesper Dahlgaard, Chair, DEGN said: “In the face of an ever-evolving industry landscape, it’s vital that stakeholders have access to comprehensive regional insights to inform ongoing collaboration, innovation, and growth. DEGN’s third annual market report compiles key data and analysis to provide a deep dive into market trends and developing consumer behaviour, offering a holistic overview of the Nordic entertainment market alongside thoughtful insight into the distinctions that differentiate each territory.”
